Welcome

The inaugural Tottenham Palestine Literature festival took place over 4 days at the end of Sept and beginning of October 2011.  It was a stimulating and highly entertaining coming together of writers, film makers, hip hop artists, singers, storytellers, photographers and a juggler.  Needless to say there was much talk about writing, resistence and art in relation to Palestine.

The festival was organised by Haringey Justice for Palestinians and we would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone who helped us make it such a success.

“It is very interesting and encouraging to see such effort made to bring different cultural and intellectual aspects into a festival. This will raise the issue of Palestine thereby increasing public awareness about what is happening in this part of the world.”

Akram Amro Faculty of Health Professions, Al Quds University

“What a magnificent venture to have a Palestine literature festival in Tottenham. Any celebration is good for the Haringey community. I hope it is a wonderful success and that people take heed of the content and message which needs to be highlighted. No stone should be left unturned to inform us of the reality of life in Palestine.”

Fr. Joe Ryan, St John Vianney’s Church, Tottenham

Through the support of people in Haringey our lives have become better. Selling our handicrafts gives us equal rights with others as we as women can take full responsibility for supporting our families in these very difficult times.

The Tottenham Palestine Literature Festival will help turn guns and barriers into bridges bringing peace and respect to a nation whose freedom and land has been occupied. Tottenham is great in fighting prejudice and discrimination, side by side till the goal is achieved. Free Palestine. Freedom for Palestinians!

I lived in Tottenham once. I lived in Gaza once. It’s great to see when Palestinians are in need that people in Tottenham are reaching out and showing solidarity with them.

Benjamin Zephaniah

Anything which can be done to help people to understand the Palestinians & their struggle for freedom has my vote. We hate too easily, we condemn too quickly; let’s read & learn. Good for Tottenham!
